VIET NAM VISA APPLICATION

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES

Please read the following guidelines carefully

  1. Visas issued by Viet Nam Embassy are regular (physical) visas, not electronic visas (e-visas); so they will be shipped to you by mail, not by email. Visas issued by Viet Nam Embassy are accepted to enter Viet Nam from any airports, seaports or land border gates. For e-visas, if you have applied for e-visas and encountered any problems (such as delays, incorrect information on e-visas, failed payments, being denied to enter Viet Nam…), you need to contact the Immigration Department of Viet Nam, not Viet Nam Embassy, because we can not assist you in those cases.
  2. The valid duration of the visa will be based on the date of first entry and date of last exit as specified in your Application. At present, the maximum duration of a tourist visa issued by Viet Nam Embassy is one month. In cases where you want to stay in Viet Nam for more than one month, you can apply for extension when you are in Viet Nam. We will provide you with the guidelines on how to apply for visa extension when we ship your visas to you. At present, please do not submit your Application for 3-month visas to Viet Nam Embassy because they will not be processed.
  3. If you want to apply for business visas, your business partners in Viet Nam need to work with Immigration Department of Viet Nam and obtain Approval Letter for your visa request. After you have obtained the Approval Letter, you can submit your visa Application to Viet Nam Embassy (together with the Approval Letter). Visas could be ready to be shipped to you after 3 business days upon upon our confirmation of receipt of your Application and Approval Letter.
  4. Visa application fees are non-refundable. However, your credit card will not be charged until we have contacted you by phone to advise you of the fees and you have confirmed with us by email that you are OK with the fees.
  5. Processing time for Visa Application is about 10 business days. To avoid the problem of having to delay or cancel your flights, you should apply for a visa about 4 weeks before your departure date or earlier. In case of urgency, you could request Express Processing Service by send an email to us after you have submitted your Visa Application. We will contact you by phone to confirm your request. After confirmation is made, visa will be issued and ready to be shipped to you after 3 business days (shipping time not included).
  6. Visas issued by Viet Nam Embassy will be shipped to you by either Fedex or Canada Post. Fedex service is usually faster, normally with one business day delivery standard and fewer delays. You need to check to make sure that mailing address you provide in your application is correct and complete (with postal code and unit number, if any). If the visas can not be delivered to you due to incorrect or incomplete mailing address, Viet Nam Embassy can not be responsible.
  7. For cruise travel: if all the ports are in the territory of Viet Nam, then you only need a single entry visa. If you leave Viet Nam maritime area, go to another port in another country, and then return to Viet Nam, then a multiple entries visa will be required.
  8. For transit: You do not need a visa if you just transit and stay in the airport before taking the connecting flight. If you leave the airport to go to the city before taking the next flight, you will need to apply for a visa.
  9. Your Passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months upon your arrival in Vietnam. Otherwise, you may run the risk of being denied at the airport/seaport/land border gate to enter Viet Nam, or even being denied to board the plane. Holders of Refugee Travel Document (issued to people in Canada with protected-person status, including Convention refugees and persons in need of protection) can not apply for a visa issued by Vietnam Embassy.
  10. The best way to contact Viet Nam Embassy about your visa application is by email visa@vietnamembassy.ca because our phone system is often overloaded with phone calls.
